Season Three: Crops & Blocks

Jun 23, 2021

Greetings Craftadians!

We're introducing tons of new crops and blocks with Season Three. Grow blueberries, strawberries, pineapples, and more, while building with new naturally-spawning blocks and craftable variants of existing blocks.

These blog posts prior to Season Three will serve as a brief overview of new systems, but should not be taken as a comprehensive guide for what it to come at launch or mid-season. Craftadia's guides will be updated at launch with full details on new content!

Please note that all of the content discussed in this blog post and future showcase blog-posts are subject to change prior to launch.

Crops & Blocks 📝

While many of you will be interested in reading as many specifics as possible regarding these new systems, the following is a list of crop & block upgrades you can look forward to if you don't have the time to read the entire post:

Let's jump right into some sneak peaks at what we're doing with respect to each section mentioned above!

Season Three Q&A ❓

Just like with Season Two, we're hosting a Q&A for players to ask questions regarding what's to come with Season Three.

The Q&A will take place on Sunday, June 27th, at 2:00 PM EST.

Please submit questions for the Q&A at the following link, and view a countdown to the Q&A here.

Over 100 New Blocks 🔨

You can expect new blocks covering a wide variety of different biomes, including (but not limited to):

These are all examples of new blocks we're introducing that can be naturally found across various biomes, and in some instances, crafted using existing blocks. We look forward to adding new blocks on an extremely regular basis, and welcome requests on what building blocks players would like to see implemented over on our Feedback site.

Better Biomes ️🌟

World generation will be a big focus of Season Three, in both the normal worlds and resource worlds. There will be a ton of naturally occurring blocks that you'll find in specific biomes as you explore, and more will be added to the resource world as time goes on.

Traverse the ocean floor to harvest Grit, a redder version of Gravel.

Explore forests to find Moss, perfect for ancient builds.

Build beautiful White Sand beaches after harvesting it from deserts.

Feel the full force of autumn with multi-colored leaves.

Seven New Crops ️🍅

Seven new crops will be available at launch! Look forward to growing:

  • Blueberry
  • Pineapple
  • Raspberry
  • Strawberry
  • Chili
  • Tomato
  • Corn

When you first login and speak with the Farmer at Spawn, you'll receive a starter bundle of various crop seeds.

In order to plant crops, you will need to craft a Cultivator. The Cultivator tool can then be used on crafted Prepared Dirt, to turn it into Prepared Soil. Custom crops can be planted on Prepared Soil to then be grown in the same way Vanilla crops work.

There are some caveats with how these new crops will function:

  • Custom Crops will be worth more than regular crops in the new Vendor system (since automation is not a concern)
  • When you harvest a custom crop, you will always get your original seed back, and a percentage chance to receive an additional seed.
  • For Custom Crops, 2 Earth Dust will be required to increase the stage of the crop, compared to the Vanilla crop requirement of 1 Earth Dust.

Seasonal Crops ️🌻

We're going to be adding seasonal crops based seasons relative to the time of year (Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring).

These crops will be exclusive to a specific season, and will naturally be higher valued than both Vanilla and other Custom Crops.

We'll be releasing the first Seasonal Crop a couple weeks into Season Three.
