Craftadia info drop #1
Hey there Craftadians!
I'd originally posted some of this as a discord announcement but in future the longer form announcements and "info-dumps" will be using this. We're hopefully going to be using this feature a bit more in the future as we share more exciting things!
As we get closer to having content "finished" and ready for testing we'll have more to share but I thought as a starter we'll go over some of what I've already mentioned. With the core of Craftadia approaching 5 years old it was due a complete overhaul... We've started with the very core itself and completely rewrote it.
Over the next few weeks I'll be aiming to drop one of these a week - (ish). Starting with the very core feature set so everyone has a chance to ask questions that they're interested in before we post the next one detailing another set of changes. Please do bear in mind that when we say we've re-written everything we do truly mean everything! Its a ground-up rebuild and there is quite a lot!
Without further ado the start of features that are changing, improving or being introduced:
- World Sharding: Instead of coloured worlds, the entire playable world is now split into “mini-servers” there is a small "border" which you can walk through around each 2.5k x 2.5k region. This means you can now create a nether portal and end up in the corresponding point in the Nether. If it's something a player has created then you can travel there in whatever manner you like! Whether that is a warp, home, teleporting to the player or physically running, flying or gliding there!
- We will still have resource worlds as well which reset so this is really the best of both worlds (literally!)
- Live Web Map: You can now view the entire server map from a web browser, it will display all current claim locations, which "shard" you are in and the locations of players. This is an invaluable tool for you creative types out there! If you're the person who can't quite decide where they want to live then this will let you "scout" out your new base location... We're still deciding whether this will be available before a release date so you can plan your perfect town location out or if we'll make this available later... Let us know your thoughts!
- “Supply and Demand” based economy: We’re opening up how you can make money on survival. This system effectively lets you grind however you want, the more an item is sold to the shop the lower the value of it becomes. Do you want to choose the harder to get items or create large farms that reward selling in bulk, you decide!
- This will be the main way people make money this coming season. Most vanilla items are able to be sold to what we'll refer to as an "admin shop". The admin shop as it's used more will dictate the base amount you can sell an item for. (If however a player wants to BUY it for more than you can sell to the admin shop for then you'll be able to sell to that player instead)
- Revamped Chestshops: These now directly integrate with the main shop, if you want to buy an item you'll be directed to these. They are the only way to purchase blocks and items of any sort so keeping the player driven economy and community interaction at the forefront.
- We're keeping the "Chestshop Directory" with added search and sort function! It should be easier than ever to trade with players.
- Player Warps: Lets you set warps that you can assign “tags” to. You can rate them 1-5 and view how many times your warp has been visited!
We've got so much more to talk about over the coming weeks. Skills, Jobs and Quests to name but a few!
We will be hosting a beta period soon and slowly expanding the players involved. We've got a few polishing features to add to the core systems before we go full steam ahead!
