Craftadia info drop #2

Dec 20, 2024

Hey all!

Another one of these again! This week we'll be going over some questions that were raised from last weeks and showing off a few new exciting things!

To start with though I'd like to address some players concerns I've picked up on from last week regarding the Live Map. From my understanding concerns are around privacy and the potential for griefing. I'd like to address these here:

Live map concerns

  • Privacy: Players want to build things in secret or not be visible on the map. As @Missionary has suggested the solution to this is to add a setting that players opt to not be anonymous. (Anonymous being the default position that everyone is set to meaning all claims and player indicators are obfsuscated unless you decide you want to be visible - The build itself will still be visible unless you cover it with a roof and walls.)
  • Griefing: Letting players have the ability to see where all claims are on the map means they can "target" players more easily if not marked as anonymous. The solution to this is to review the claiming rule and griefing around claims specifically. I'd like to get some more feedback around this. As a reminder of the current rule and how it is being enforced:

"Players must keep a minimum of 3 chunks between their claim and another users claim unless having permission from the original land owner" and "This includes purposely building or claiming around someones house without asking for their permission."

Meaning that:

  • Any griefing to terrain that occurs just outside of your claim is able to be reset by staff.
  • Any claim that is infringing on another players by 3 chunks is subject to removal and reset

These are guidelines if we feel that a player is abusing or purposefully skating the line we will take action.

Realistically we've always reccommended players claim their land as that is the only guaranteed way of ensuring no damage however we understand that players like to build in a nice area and simply "claiming everything" is not always a viable option. Claiming is still the players responsibility.

Personally I think we've got a happy medium right now that lets staff effectively intervene when a situation gets out of hand. However if you're interested in helping improve this rule or any others dont hesitate to message Porridge either in game or on Discord!

If you're not interested in that, keep on reading!

This week we're going to detail how we're making it easier than ever to interact with other players via:

  • New town system: Completely new system that lets you directly share claims with town members, effectively letting you set the permissions you want other town members to have and set it all in one go on all your land.
    • Town upgrades: To warps and members, we felt that forcing you into spending millions to get... nothing.... was a bit unfair so we've cut the bloat out of the town levelling system and then let you directly pick the upgrades you want... Do you want more warps? More Members? New town colours?... It's all up to the people running the town on how to upgrade!
A brief look at one of the upgrades! Please bare in mind all the amounts are just placeholder information for now.

Town Leaderboards that track your towns total balance and let you compete with other towns. This will track total balance of all town members.

Towns is going to have all the same features you currently have access to with the exception of Town claims. "Town claims" are now a unique setting per claim. (We'll be sharing details of how users are able to increase their Max Claims at a later date; this change will mean all users are able to access more claims than ever before without it being tied to levelling a town or "extra claim tokens" making it more accessible for everyone in the long run).

  • Jobs: We've not changed this about too much. It's one of the most recent pieces of content added to Craftadia Season 5 and feel that as it operates right now it's in quite a good place.
The ability to request items from others in bulk and is completey remote!
    • We've made the decision to completely remove "Server jobs" as a feature. We feel that gaining money arbitrarily from performing an activity detracts from the core economy, we want to drive players to communicate and trade (via Chestshops, the "Demand" shops and player trading) more than ever before!
  • Auction House: We've completely remade it! The auctionhouse is now able to be searched. No more needing to browse through the entire list to find that item you desire; simply search for it via a category or just outright type in what you want! (of course if you want to just browse through all available postings you're able to as well)
Places for your expired items, your sold items, Item search, splitting it into blocks, tools, armor and others whilst having an easy to browse menu!
  • PvP Arena: "Green" and "Red" Arenas..... you read that right we'll be re-introducing a "drop items on death" arena as well as keeping the current one (where items are not dropped on death).
Are you ready to test your abilities against others?

We've chosen to re-add the "Red" arena as it gives players that want to participate in a dangerous pvp scene a way of doing so. This arena will come with its own set of rules which you'll have to agree to in order to enter.

  • Trading: A quick one to end off this week.. You're now able to add money into the trading interface. This should make it safer than ever to trade with other players and reduce the times those pesky scammers try to one up you.
A small update to the trading interface that lets you trade cash for items and vice versa.

That concludes this weeks feature overview. Next time we'll be going over one or two of the chunky ones!

Please do feel free to ask as many questions as you want on the Community Discord server. We do attempt to read and respond to everything posted!

Thanks all. See you next week-ish again!
